1. Configuring a new FTP site

In the Connection dialog box, select New Site from the File menu (If you select a folder, or a file in a folder before selecting New Site the new site will be created in that folder.)

Enter a name for the site. Note: Do not enter an underscore as the first character in the site name; and do not use an exclamation point or brackets anywhere in the site name.

Enter a host name or IP address.

When done, click Finish. The site appears selected in the list of Configured Sites. You can now drag the new site into an existing folder or create a new folder for the site.  Select the site you just created.

2. Host Information

Host Name     ftp.yourhost.com

Enter User ID, Password, and Account.  NOTE: User ID and Account are the same.

Firewall. If you have configured a firewall, select the firewall configuration from the list.

Passive Mode. Turn this on if you want your PC to establish the data connection to the FTP site instead of the site establishing the data connection to your PC. This is recommended for most FTP sites, and it is absolutely necessary for some firewall and gateway configurations and when you get failed data channel errors. Note, however, that not all FTP sites support passive mode.

Comment. Enter any comments you want to include with this site.

If your home page is named “default.htm” then enter www.yourhost.com/ftp

If your home page is named “home.htm” then you will need to enter www.yourhost.com/ftp/home.htm to access it.
