2. Proxy Setup Netscape Navigator Gold Version 3.01

Top

ACR Net maintains a proxy server. A proxy server is similar to a network cache that stores copies of pages that people have recently downloaded. As a user accesses a web page it is downloaded from the its location and the proxy server keeps a copy. So when another user accesses the same web page, the proxy server sends to that user, a copy it has kept from the previous access. Proxy servers help to reduce the traffic on the Internet by keeping copies of frequently used pages.

In these images you will see how to set up your proxy entries. There are other entries in this area but you don't need to worry about them as they cover very specialized uses of the Internet.
